Arsenal had a blockbuster end to the transfer window as they signed Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on loan late in the day.
The Gunners made a real splash to end the window, and it’s fair to say that this could be a brilliant signing.
Don’t just take our word for it though, speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has also hailed Arsenal’s business here, claiming that this is a ridiculous bit of work from the Gunners to get such a deal done so late.
Rio Ferdinand reacts to Raheem Sterling deal
Ferdinand shared his verdict on Sterling moving to Arsenal.
“I think he’s taken a wage cut from what I’m told. I think that, when you look at it you go, ok he’s taken a wage cut. Arsenal aren’t paying a loan fee which is huge for them. Great business by Arsenal,” Ferdinand said.
“He’s taking almost half a wage cut to go there. From Arsenal’s perspective this is a ridiculous bit of business.”

Raheem Sterling deal is brilliant
Deadline day signings don’t come much better than this.
This is genuinely one of the best signings Arsenal could’ve made. It’s a cheap deal for a proven winner who knows the manager’s system.
Sterling, at his best, is one of the Premier League’s most effective wingers, and Mikel Arteta may be just the man to reignite Sterling’s career after a difficult few years.
At worst, this is a signing that gives Arsenal some very good depth, at best, Arsenal have just landed one of the best attacking players the Premier League has seen in the past 10 years.
With Sterling taking a serious paycut to join Arsenal, this is a deal that is almost fail-proof.
