Amad Diallo spared Ruben Amorim’s blushes with a stunning goal to rescue Manchester United a point against Nottingham Forest.
Amorim was searching for a fourth win on the spin as Man Utd manager when he took his team to the City Ground.
Casemiro opened the scoring on the day, but the Red Devils were unable to hold onto their lead.
Nottingham Forest scored twice early in the second half and looked set to clinch their first three points in the Premier League under Sean Dyche.
However, Diallo stepped up at the right moment with a brilliant goal to make it 2-2 and earn Utd a point.

What Rio Ferdinand said about Amad Diallo’s importance to Ruben Amorim
A Nottingham Forest defender’s headed clearance only reached the edge of the box following a corner. The ball fell straight into Diallo’s path before he hit a sweet volley in the 81st minute.
It was a brilliant effort that earned him high praise from fans on social media post-match.
- “Take a bow Amad”
- “AMAD, TAKE A BOW!”
- “Maestro”
- “What a finish, could end up being some of the picks for goal of the week.”
- “What a player”
As well as being the talk of the town, his efforts and never-say-die attitude late in the game this weekend proved Rio Ferdinand’s prediction completely right.
Speaking back in December 2024, the former Man Utd centre-back expressed his view that the 23-year-old had the will ‘to change the tide’ and show great heart.
He said: “And the new manager’s come in and I would go as far as to say he’s the first name on the sheet for this new manager and that’s a testament to this kid’s character, his will to change the tide and swing against the current and say to people, no, no, you can’t leave me out. You can’t!
“I might be small in stature but I got the biggest heart. I’m going to run, I’m going to work and then I’m going to make decisive, great decisions when I’ve got it, I’m going to impact the game.”
