Reported Newcastle and Aston Villa World Cup target says he dreams of playing in the Premier League
Jonathan David has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs and has said it is a dream to play in the English top flight.
David has just been knocked out of the World Cup with Canada, who won a lot of admirers for their performances but failed to get a point on the board.
Newcastle have been rumoured in connection with a January move as they look to add even more firepower to their Champions League chasing attack.
Meanwhile, at Aston Villa, Unai Emery is gearing up for his first transfer window in charge and is also eyeing up a swoop for David.
David dreams of Premier League move
“I am aware of nothing (interest in him),” David said, as per the Independent.
“When I am at the World Cup I am just focused on trying to enjoy the World Cup and enjoying the moment, and what happens after I do not know, we will have to see.
“The Premier League is the best league in the world and I think every player would want to play there some day.”
“Any player who plays at the World Cup, no matter what the outcome, you become a better player, you learn from it, and it helps you grow,” he added.
“The future is bright, despite the three losses. There are some good things we take and learn from to try and do better in the future. What makes the difference at the highest level is the smallest things, not finishing our chances and not holding onto scorelines.”
Owen Hargreaves, who was born in Canada before opting to represent England, spoke very highly about David on Michael Calvin’s Football People podcast.
Hargreaves said: “Jonathan David upfront he’s a fantastic player – he’s a handful.”
It remains to be seen what he does next after his taste of life on the world stage but clearly a move to England is on his radar at some point.
