Newcastle United are planning to make a bid for Jonathan David in the January transfer window after failing to sign the Lille striker in the summer, according to a report from Media Foot in France.
The Magpies have been unbelievable in the early stages of the season. Eddie Howe’s men sit third in the Premier League table. And they are playing some of the most exciting football in the division.

Ian Wright said this week that Newcastle now have to be considered title contenders. And with that, the January window is going to be a significant one for the Magpies and their potential rivals.
Newcastle to make Jonathan David bid
Obviously, Newcastle have the means to financially compete with anyone. And should they win their next two league games, they could be one point behind Arsenal by the time they meet at the start of January.

It does seem that Newcastle have some exciting deals lined up. In fact, Media Foot in France is now reporting that they are planning to make a bid for David in January.
The report notes that they tried to sign the 22-year-old in the summer. And they are planning to return to the negotiating table in just over a month.
Of course, David is a player many football fans will have an eye on in the coming weeks. The forward is part of the Canada side which will be looking to surprise quite a few at the World Cup.
He is a ‘fantastic‘ talent. And he goes into the tournament having scored nine times in Ligue 1 already this season.
It would be a remarkable statement from Newcastle to sign David.
Callum Wilson has been in good form – earning a spot at the World Cup himself. And Newcastle fans are yet to really see what record signing Alexander Isak could be able to do over an extended period.
So adding David to the ranks would send out a message that Newcastle believe that they are on the cusp of something special.
