Report: Yannick Carrasco now more likely to say yes to Tottenham move
Yannick Carrasco would be more inclined to join either Tottenham Hotspur or Newcastle United after rejecting the two clubs during the previous January transfer window, according to a report from Marca.
Carrasco has actually featured in all but one of Atletico Madrid’s La Liga games so far this season. However, it has been a frustrating campaign for the Belgian.
In fact, he has completed 90 minutes just once in the top-flight. And it seems that his future is a talking point once again.
Carrasco now more likely to accept Tottenham move
Marca notes that he is out of contract with Atleti in 2024. And the 29-year-old was left frustrated when an offer of a renewal never arrived from Diego Simeone’s men.
Atletico could now sell the wide-man.
Marca reports that both Newcastle and Spurs wanted Carrasco during the last January window. However, he rejected the chance to join either club.
Now however, Marca suggests that Carrasco is more inclined to say yes to the chance to leave after the season he has had.
And that may be particularly pleasing to Tottenham.
Reports in November claimed that Spurs remain admirers of his and were preparing a move for the January transfer window.
Marca notes that he has a release clause worth over £52 million. But Atletico, understandably, have little chance of receiving such a fee given his age and contract situation.
Much may depend on what kind of fee Atleti want for Carrasco. You can understand why Antonio Conte would be interested in recruiting him.
Carrasco can play on either flank, or anywhere on either side. He also has experience in almost every other position on the pitch during his career.
He has 80 goal involvements in 238 games for Atletico. And if he is available for a low price, he could be another very impressive signing for Spurs.
It seems that he is much more open-minded about a switch.
