Report: Wolves want to sign player that played 40 times for Arsenal last season, Paolo Maldini winning race

Spanish outlet El Confidencial have claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos. The midfielder is about to return to Real Madrid, and has already confirmed he will leave the Gunners. Madrid, though, are open to a permanent sale.

The 24-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at Arsenal. Playing 77 times, he has failed to leave a lasting impression on Arsenal supporters. Many believe he is not a Premier League footballer, a conception shared by Ceballos. But that has not deterred Wolves and Bruno Lage.

Madrid are open to letting Ceballos depart permanently this summer. They want to recoup the £14million they paid to sign him. But Wolves face competition. It is claimed Paolo Maldini and AC Milan are winning the race, but only want him on loan. Real Betis and Lazio are also interested.

Wolves transfer news: Ceballos would be a decent addition

At £14million, he is pretty cheap. Wolves could do with additions in the middle of the park. Ruben Neves has stated his desire to leave Molineux, while Joao Moutinho is not getting any younger. Ceballos would be a very solid signing, but there are reservations about Ceballos in English football.

Rather than the player claiming the style does not suit him, surely he just needs a bit of confidence in his ability. At Arsenal, he did not get that, struggling to gain any momentum under the expectant eye of Arsenal’s fans. At Wolves, out of the spotlight a bit, might suit him.

In other Wolves transfer news aside from Ceballos, fans have discussed reports claiming they want a Liverpool defender.
