Arsenal fans are seemingly about to get their first glimpse of William Saliba in action for the club, with The Telegraph reporting that the 19-year-old is set to be handed his competitive debut for the Gunners on Wednesday.
There has been plenty of excitement and anticipation surrounding the teenager. He, of course, joined the club last year but remained in France on loan.
And Saliba seemed to whet the appetite for his emergence into Mikel Arteta’s side in pre-season. He was lauded for his display at MK Dons in the summer.
But he goes into Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie with Leicester City still awaiting his competitive bow for the club.
However, The Telegraph has reported that the wait is nearly over. It is suggested that he will feature against the Foxes, presumably from the start.

It would be fantastic for Arsenal if Saliba produces a superb performance against Leicester. There is a lot of optimism surrounding the Emirates right now. And Saliba impressing would only increase that further.
But it is also fair to say that he is under little pressure. Of course, he arrived for a substantial fee. However, the likes of David Luiz, Rob Holding and Gabriel Magalhaes have all done well in the early stages of the campaign.
So if Wednesday’s tie comes too soon for Saliba, he will be under less pressure to immediately produce a better display in the coming weeks.
