Arsenal fans react on Twitter to William Saliba’s pre-season display

Arsenal fans are struggling to not get a little carried away over William Saliba after watching the defender make his first appearance for the Gunners in their first pre-season clash.

Mikel Arteta handed Saliba a starting spot away at MK Dons on Tuesday. And in his 45 minutes on the pitch, the Frenchman did enough to whet the appetite of the supporters on social media.

The Gunners went into the break 2-1 ahead. And Saliba was one of the players that the fans were raving about after the first-half.

The 19-year-old looked composed and a class act when in possession. He was more than willing to drive forward with the ball at his feet, and his passing caught the eye.

The teenager played a role in Arsenal’s second goal of the evening with a ball out to Cedric Soares that ultimately led to Eddie Nketiah doubling the lead.

But the supporters were also left raving about his pace. While he will have to step it up in the very near future, there is clearly a lot of optimism over the attributes that he is already showing.

Many are incredibly excited to see Saliba playing regularly in the Premier League. Several definitely feel that he has made an immediate jump to the top of the pecking order.

As already mentioned, the quality of the opposition makes it difficult to put too much stock in Saliba’s display. However, there are a number of fans who obviously feel that he could not have done more to catch the eye.
