Newcastle United are seemingly on the verge of appointing Eddie Howe as their new manager.

However, Toon Army fans were left waiting on Friday as talks apparently hit a snag.

Fabrizio Romano claimed on Friday evening that Newcastle hadn’t announced Howe as there was “still something to be fixed to reach an agreement with his technical staff members”.

The new Magpies hierarchy has been on it since Friday morning, he added.

However, everything appears to still be on track, according to reports.

The Athletic claimed on Friday night that Howe is expected to sign the Newcastle contract on Saturday.

In addition, he will reportedly attend the evening Premier League game between the Magpies and Brighton on the south coast.

Howe has reportedly agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal to succeed Steve Bruce at St James’ Park.

And Howe’s former assistants Jason Tindall, Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone are apparently set to join his backroom team.

Existing staff member Graeme Jones is likely to remain part of the Newcastle set-up, added the report.

Newcastle are currently 19th in the Premier League table and are yet to win a game in the top-flight this term.
