Report: What Yves Bissouma was seen doing at full-time yesterday as Arsenal celebrated their win
Tottenham Hotspur fans will know something has to change at the club quickly to avoid more disappointment like yesterday.
Another high-profile mistake from Hugo Lloris and a moment of magic from Martin Odegaard decided the contest.
The Malian international was only fit enough to start on the bench for Spurs yesterday.
It meant Pape Matar Sarr was thrown into the starting line-up for arguably the biggest club game of his career.
Conte singled out Sarr for praise after the match, with the young man very much not to blame for Tottenham’s defeat.
Bissouma came off the bench for the final 14 minutes as Spurs tried to find a way back into the game.
He made a decent impact during his short time on the pitch, playing two key passes and not giving the ball away once.
Bissouma’s reaction at full-time against Arsenal yesterday
The Guardian wrote after the match about what happened at the final whistle.
They said, ‘after the booing and brawling had subsided, as Arsenal’s giddy players jigged and danced their way over to their supporters in the corner, Yves Bissouma stood alone in the Tottenham half watching them.
‘Watching with longing, and envy, and perhaps even a certain curiosity.’
It’s not difficult to see why Bissouma would be jealous of Arsenal’s reaction after the match.
He watched from the bench as his side were completely outplayed by their fierce rivals, especially in the first-half.
Bissouma has struggled to make the impact he would have liked since arriving from Brighton in the summer.
He was always going to struggle to shift Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg or Rodrigo Bentancur out of the team.
However, whenever he has been handed an opportunity to play, he’s never looked massively convincing.
He was criticized by Jamie O’Hara for his performance against Brentford, which has allowed Sarr a short run in the team.
Bissouma’s full-time reaction of disappointment and disbelief was one shared by many Spurs fans in the ground.
A midweek trip to Manchester City is their next opportunity to turn their fortunes around.
