Aston Villa fans would have been very apprehensive arriving at Vila Park yesterday.
They were without a permanent manager and in serious danger of dropping into the relegation zone following Steven Gerrard’s sacking.
Villa stormed into a 3-0 lead, with Leon Bailey opening the scoring after two minutes, before a quick-fire Danny Ings brace.
Ollie Watkins added a fourth just before the hour mark to seal Villa’s biggest win of the season.

In the absence of captain John McGinn, who was dropped by caretaker manager Aaron Danks, Emi Martinez wore the armband.
However, the reaction of former captain Tyrone Mings when goal scorer Bailey was substituted is something Villa fans will have been happy to see.
The report says that Mings ‘really embraced and congratulated’ Bailey when he was substituted.
Bailey admitted after the match that their togetherness was very important yesterday.
“Today was just brilliant how we played as a team,” said Bailey.
“We were there for each other.”
Mings embraced Bailey when he was substituted
Bailey was very briefly Villa’s top scorer this season after his early goal, before Ings surpassed his tally from the penalty spot.
The £25m winger hasn’t been fully fit this season, with Gerrard admitting last week he had to substitute him when he didn’t want to.
Danks managed to give Bailey his longest run out since he played all 90 minutes against Manchester City at the start of last month.
With Philippe Coutinho struggling for form, Bailey’s importance at Villa has certainly increased.

Villa fans will also be happy to see Mings continuing to be a leader on the pitch after Gerrard took away the captaincy from him in the summer.
An injury to Diego Carlos means Mings is even more important in the centre of defence to Villa.
He made a mistake for Chelsea’s first goal last week, but was much more composed against Brentford.
Mings was delighted for Bailey when he was substituted yesterday, and will be hoping he’s fit to play 90 minutes very soon.
