Report: What Tottenham fans were doing to Arsenal loanee Nicolas Pepe during friendly game last night

Tottenham Hotspur rounded off their preparations for the return of the Premier League with a 1-1 draw against Nice.

It was their first match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since their dramatic 4-3 win over Leeds last month.

A report from Football London has outlined some of the key talking points from the night.

Antonio Conte is still without a full complement of players after the World Cup.

Ivan Perisic, Hugo Lloris and Cristian Romero were all in action for their countries right up to the final.

It has given a number of fringe players the chance to impress in recent weeks.

Matt Doherty was on the score sheet again, while Pape Matar Sarr finally made his home debut.

Harvey White was once again given a chance in a false-nine position, and that versatility could earn him a much-needed loan move next month.

Son Heung-min and Eric Dier also returned to action after their exploits in Qatar, with the South Korean still donning a protective mask.

It also gave Tottenham fans a chance to return to support their teams after weeks away.

And it didn’t take them long to get back into the swing of things with Arsenal loanee Nicolas Pepe booed last night on his return to north London.

Pepe is on loan at Nice this season, but there was nothing nice about his reception from the home crowd yesterday.

Football London’s report shared the details, stating that: ‘Boasting the likes of Ross Barkley and Nicolas Pepe, who was booed on a number of occasions due to his Arsenal connections.’

Pepe’s time at Arsenal did not go to plan, with the Ivory Coast international arriving at The Emirates for a club record £72m fee.

In three seasons at the club, Pepe managed to reach double figures for goals just once, and is now back playing in France.

Kevin Campbell has suggested that the 27-year-old’s time at Arsenal is now all-but-over.

Pepe will be used to being booed at rival clubs, and last night could have been no different.

The right-winger has scored six goals in all competitions since arriving on the French Riviera.

However, he wasn’t capable of silencing Tottenham’s fans yesterday with a winning goal.
