What has happened with Mudryk in Shakhtar training, as Arsenal close in

Arsenal’s pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk forward Mykhaylo Mudryk is becoming the biggest transfer saga of the window.

The 21-year-old winger has made it clear for some time that The Emirates is his preferred destination.

Arsenal have already made two bids for the Ukrainian, with the second currently being discussed.

The Gunners reportedly face competition from Chelsea for his signature, although Arsenal is still his most likely destination.

Mikel Arteta’s side would like to add another attacker to their ranks this month, after losing Gabriel Jesus to injury.

They’ve already been beaten to the punch by Graham Potter’s side for Joao Felix, and would like to avoid a repeat of that with Mudryk.

A report from The Athletic has now detailed what’s happened to Mudryk in Shakhtar training.

Amongst all the speculation, Mudryk still has to turn out for current side Shakhtar.

His current side are second in the league behind Dnipro-1, but currently have a game in hand.

The Athletic report that Mudryk is now on his way to a mid-season training camp in Turkey with Shakhtar.

He joined up with his teammates this morning, and will now be preparing for three friendlies while the Ukrainian league is on a winter break.

Arsenal will be pleased that Mudryk is still in training and maintaining his fitness.

If a deal does go through in the next few days, they’ll want him ready and available to play as quickly as possible.

While all this is going on, Mudryk is now back in Shakhtar training.

For how much longer remains to be seen, as he could be asked to join up with his new side at any moment.
