Report: What Antonio Conte has really been like in Tottenham training since the World Cup ended

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has plenty of time to prepare for his side’s Boxing Day clash against Brentford.

Their form started to wobble before the World Cup, and Conte will be hoping his side come back from the break firing on all cylinders.

A report from The Athletic has provided the latest information on Conte’s future.

The Italian coach’s contract runs out at the end of the season, with Spurs keen to extend his deal.

Tottenham have the option to extend his deal by an extra year, but want Conte to sign a new long-term contract.

It’s easy to see why, Conte has overseen a serious upturn in Tottenham’s form and recruitment.

Alongside Fabio Paratici, Spurs have brought in some of Serie A’s best players, including Dejan Kulusevski and Cristian Romero.

Conte has put his stamp on Tottenham training, with a whole new tactical system implemented since his arrival.

It saw Spurs surge up the table last season, and beat north London rivals Arsenal to a spot in the Champions League.

Tottenham followed it up with their best ever start to a Premier League season this campaign.

However, they’ve got some work to do to catch up to the table-topping Gunners.

The Athletic has now shared what Conte is currently like in Tottenham training since the World Cup ended.

Conte’s mood in Tottenham training

The report suggests that, ‘Conte has returned to training full of his usual enthusiasm, commitment and energy, loving being back out on the pitch with the players.’

The Italian has missed plenty of his stars over the past few weeks due to their involvement in Qatar.

He would have been disappointed to see Richarlison at Hotspur Way so soon, after he picked up an injury with Brazil.

Conte has also been trying out a few players in different positions during training and Tottenham’s friendlies.

Conte has missed a number of key players in Tottenham training over the past few weeks.

Ivan Perisic may need a rest after playing more minutes than any other outfield Premier League player in Qatar.

Spurs have one final match to prepare for the start of competitive action when they face Nice tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see what side Conte puts out, with so many of his players at different levels of fitness and match sharpness after the World Cup.
