A report from The Star has shared what Ange Postecoglou has identified to friends as the reason behind the poor team spirit at Celtic last season.

Postecoglou is getting to grips with his new surroundings. The 55-year-old, of course, is tasked with getting the Hoops back to the summit of Scottish football.

It comes after an awful campaign for the Bhoys. Neil Lennon’s side endured a miserable time as they looked for the club’s 10th league title in a row.

Ultimately, they finished 25 points off top spot. And it appears that a huge overhaul of the squad may be required.

Interestingly, it appears that Postecoglou has an idea as to why Parkhead proved to be so toxic last season.

According to The Star, he has told friends that the previous regime’s preference for signing players from overseas was a factor behind the drop in team spirit.

Does Ange Postecoglou stance hint at how Celtic will proceed in transfer window?

Celtic have had some huge success when signing players from overseas. Players such as Kristoffer Ajer and Odsonne Edouard have been outstanding signings.

But there is no question that the results from that strategy have been mixed. Hoops fans would probably be able to reel off a number of poor signings made in the last few years.

It will be interesting to see how Postecoglou’s theory impacts Celtic’s transfer plans this summer.

As The Star notes, they want George Baldock.

They have also been linked with Mario Vuskovic. But perhaps it may well be that they do indeed focus more of their attention on targets from the Premier League, Championship and Scottish Premiership.
