Report: Celtic ready to double what rival will offer Mario Vuskovic in wages
Celtic look to be in pole position to sign Mario Vuskovic, with The Scottish Sun reporting that they are prepared to offer more than double what Torino are willing to pay the defender in wages.
Vuskovic looks to be in with a shout of becoming Ange Postecoglou’s first signing at Parkhead.
It was claimed this week that talks had begun over a move for the 19-year-old. His club, Hajduk Split reportedly want £5 million for the defender.
It remains to be seen if a fee can be agreed. But it does appear that the Hoops are putting the most lucrative terms on the table.
According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are ready to offer Vuskovic a four-year deal worth £12,000-a-week. Torino meanwhile, are only planning to offer terms worth less than half of that.
It is noted in the report that Feyenoord and Basel are also admirers. But it is suggested that Celtic are seen as the best option by his advisors.
Huge boost if Celtic land Mario Vuskovic
Celtic supporters will be hoping for an incredibly busy summer after such a disappointing campaign.
Bringing Vuskovic in would be an excellent way to follow up on the appointment of Postecoglou.
The sides chasing his signature highlights the sort of potential he possesses. So Celtic leading the race is a big statement.
Many of their supporters seemed pleased when the most recent links emerged earlier this week.
So they will be delighted that the Bhoys are reportedly putting the best deal on the table.
With his advisors seemingly in favour of a Parkhead switch, it would appear that a deal is there to be done as long as a fee can be agreed.
But if Celtic are prepared to pay Vuskovic £12,000-a-week over four years, surely they are going to do all they can to get a move across the line.
