Report: West Ham want £60m star after being alerted PL rival could sell

West Ham United boss David Moyes is keen to bring Dominic Calvert-Lewin to the London Stadium, but The Sun reports that Everton’s asking price is putting the Hammers off a bid.

Calvert-Lewin has established himself as one of the elite strikers in the Premier League. The 24-year-old scored 16 times in the top-flight last season.

This year has been a difficult one for the England international. He has three goals so far. However, his campaign has been blighted by injury.

Despite his lack of game-time, he is attracting plenty of attention. He has recently been linked with Arsenal. And now, The Sun reports that Moyes would love Calvert-Lewin at West Ham.

It has been claimed that Moyes has learned that he may be available. And if his asking price does drop, West Ham could make a bid. The report suggests that Everton currently want £60 million for the former Sheffield United starlet.

Everton fans will probably not worry too much about West Ham interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin

West Ham certainly need a new striker. Ideally, one would arrive in this window. However, it will be a lot easier to make a significant signing at the end of the season.

Calvert-Lewin is the kind of player that fans of most Premier League clubs would want. There is not a raft of top-quality strikers in the league right now. But he is one of the very best.

Everton will be wary of losing him. Former Toffees assistant Davide Ancelotti described him as the ‘best striker‘ for their club during his time at Goodison Park.

They are currently languishing in the bottom-half of the table. So there is bound to be plenty of interest.

But it would be a surprise to see West Ham be the side to make the big-money bid. The Irons have not tended to be amongst the highest-spenders. He would be, by some way, their record buy (Transfermarkt).

The West Ham owners have come in for a lot of criticism during their time at the club. So it would be a huge statement if they make a serious move for Calvert-Lewin in the coming months.
