Report: West Ham ready offer for 23-year-old who’s available at ‘knockdown price’

West Ham are reportedly readying an offer for defender Nikola Milenkovic at Italian top-flight club Fiorentina.

According to The Sun, the Hammers are set to make a bid for the 23-year-old. 

It is understood that David Moyes’ side are turning towards the Serie A star due to a failed move for Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma. An issue with wages means they will miss out on the Blues defender.

The report explains that Milenkovic is available at a “knockdown price” of just £14million due to the fact there is only one year left on his contract.

Also, the centre-back is “keen” on joining he Irons, despite interest from elsewhere.

Milenkovic, who has 28 senior caps for his country Serbia, is already someone with a decent amount of experience at a young age.

The physical centre-half has made 133 senior appearances for Fiorentina, along with 44 games for Partizan Belgrade prior to his move to Italy.

It’s concerning for West Ham that so many rivals around them are active in the window. The club’s board need to act quickly to help their manager out.

Moyes needs a bigger squad to balance both domestic and European competitions in the upcoming campaign.

Milenkovic, who’s a 6ft 5in defender that’s great in the air, would bring some extra steel. He would be another option in the heart of the backline at the London Stadium.
