Report: West Ham put an end to talks with Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri
West Ham have put an end to talks to sign Emerson Palmieri over the Chelsea player’s wage demands, according to a report from The Sun.
The Hammers have announced the arrival of Thilo Kehrer today. But he is not the only defender the club want to sign in the latter stages of the window.
Reports earlier this week claimed that West Ham were eyeing a deal for Emerson as David Moyes looks to strengthen the ranks at left-back.
The 28-year-old attracted a £13 million bid from the Irons. And The Sun reports that they were close to agreeing a fee with Chelsea for the Italy international.
However, it seems that he is currently unlikely to move to the London Stadium. The Sun reports that West Ham have now walked away from discussions. It is suggested that his wage demands have put paid to the Hammers’ bid to sign Emerson.
They are now considering other options. But there remains a slim chance that West Ham could make another bid to sign Emerson.
West Ham put an end to Emerson talks
It is a blow for West Ham to miss out on Emerson. He has been a decent performer for Chelsea. And Thomas Tuchel has previously suggested that he is an ‘unbelievable‘ person.
However, the Hammers will be wary of paying over the odds to get a deal done. They have other targets in mind. And there is still plenty of time to bring in an impressive signing.
It looks to be imperative that West Ham do make a signing in that position. And it seems that it is still possible that Emerson will end up joining.
