Report: West Ham miss out after intense talks with club over Boulaye Dia in last few days
West Ham United appear to have missed out on Boulaye Dia, with French outlet Le 10 Sport reporting that they held intense talks with Stade de Reims in the last few days.
The 24-year-old went into the summer off the back of his best top flight season to date.
Dia scored 14 goals in Ligue 1. He ended the campaign as their top goalscorer, finishing 10 clear of his nearest teammate.
Unsurprisingly, a host of clubs have registered an interest. And it appears that he is heading to Villarreal.
According to Le 10 Sport, Unai Emery’s men are set to spend £10.25 million to sign the striker.
However, that is only after the Hammers did their best to try and scupper that move to the Europa League winners.
Le 10 Sport reports that intense talks were held with the Irons and Hertha Berlin in the last few days. But he is set to sign a five-year deal in Spain.
West Ham need to produce something in striker search after missing out on Dia
It has been apparent throughout the summer that West Ham need a new striker.
Dia is not a new name to the Hammers radar. He was also linked with a London Stadium switch at the start of the year.
So the Irons may feel that it is a real blow to seemingly miss out. He is not set to cost the Yellow Submarine a lot, it seems.
The supporters will be hoping that an exciting target emerges in the coming weeks as David Moyes looks to bolster his attacking options.
