West Ham United are interested in Dan-Axel Zagadou, according to a report from The Sun, with the defender currently a free agent after leaving Borussia Dortmund.
The Hammers open their Premier League campaign on Sunday. And they have been handed a daunting task, hosting the champions Manchester City at the London Stadium.

It has been a decent summer window for David Moyes. But the fans will surely want more signings before the deadline passes as they look to build on two superb years.
And one player they have their eye on is Zagadou. The 23-year-old is available on a free transfer after his deal with Dortmund expired at the end of last season.

He is in talks with a number of sides. The Sun reports that Jose Mourinho wants to take the Frenchman to Roma. Meanwhile, Inter Milan are also admirers of the youngster.
But Moyes feels that Zagadou would be the ideal squad member for West Ham. And he wants him in case countryman Issa Diop leaves for Fulham.
West Ham interested in Zagadou
Zagadou did not have the best time with Dortmund. In five seasons, he never made more than 22 appearances in a single campaign in all competitions.
There were times when he struggled with injury. And with that, some West Ham fans may have their concerns.
Having said that, if he had not had those injuries, he would surely be someone Dortmund would have kept. Former Dortmund boss Marco Rose said he has a ‘very, very good left foot‘. On a free transfer, he may be worth the gamble for the Irons this summer.
Reports in January claimed that both Newcastle and Manchester United were keen on a deal. And obviously, he now has two Serie A heavyweights chasing his signature.
So it could certainly be a coup for West Ham if they could agree a deal and he enjoys some luck with injury.
