Report: West Ham interested in Burnley defender Charlie Taylor

West Ham are interested in Burnley defender Charlie Taylor after seemingly missing out on Filip Kostic and Emerson Palmieri, according to a report from talkSPORT.

The Hammers will be one team to watch in the final days of the summer window. They have signed some very exciting players. But it does appear that they need further depth.

And one of the positions they are looking at is left-back. Unfortunately for David Moyes, talks with Emerson have broken down over the Chelsea player’s wage demands.

But they have a new name on their radar. TalkSPORT reports that West Ham now have their eye on Taylor. The Irons believe that Burnley may be willing to sell the 28-year-old.

Of course, West Ham have already signed Maxwel Cornet from the Clarets.

West Ham interested in Taylor

Burnley are surely not going to want to sell Taylor this summer. He has been a key player following Vincent Kompany’s appointment. And actually, he has been used in a different way by the Belgian.

Kompany has deployed Taylor at centre-back. And in pre-season, he expressed his surprise that he has not played there previously.

Taylor is also proven at Premier League level, producing some ‘brilliant‘ performances along the way.

And his new-found versatility may make him an even more appealing target for the Hammers. He can obviously play at wing-back. But he would also be comfortable in various roles when the Irons deploy a back three.

It may not be the most inspiring option given that Kostic has just won the Europa League and Emerson is an Italy international.

But it could be an extremely shrewd signing if West Ham are able to agree a deal.
