Report: West Ham interested in Arsenal target Rodrigo Becao
Becao is attracting plenty of attention after a fine start to the season with Udinese. Tuttomercatoweb reports that there was Premier League interest in him during the summer.
Reports from Tutto Udinese this week claimed that the Gunners and Tottenham plan to make a bid for the 26-year-old in January. And Tuttomercatoweb also suggests that Arsenal are very interested in the centre-back.
West Ham interested in Becao
But the report adds that both West Ham and Everton also want Becao. Meanwhile, Inter Milan and Torino would love to lure him away from their Serie A rival.
Becao would be a really exciting signing for the Hammers if a deal is at all possible. His contract situation opens the door for a potential bargain, with his current deal up in 2024.
He has shone on the right of a back three this term. Becao is regularly seen bursting forward. And few defenders in Serie A make a greater contribution in the final third.
But he is also a very good defender. He makes a number of tackles per game. Only five players in the entire division average more so far this season, according to Whoscored.
West Ham are in something of a rut right now. They went into the World Cup break just outside the bottom three in the Premier League. And they have lost their last three.
It does appear that their defensive options need a boost. Nayef Aguerd has only made a handful of appearances for the side due to injury. But Becao looks to be a really talented defender.
With the amount of interest in him, it would be a real coup for West Ham to secure his signature.
