Report: West Ham have “closely watched” striker Jan Kuchta
West Ham are reportedly looking at Slavia Prague frontman Jan Kuchta as a possible transfer target ahead of this summer’s window.
According to the Express, the Hammers have been eyeing the 24-year-old in the past few months. The report explains the Czech striker has been “watched closely” by West Ham scouts.
Kuchta, who won the Czech league title this season with Slavia, has been impressive this year.
The centre-forward hit 19 goals in 40 games across all competitions this campaign, with 14 coming in the league competition.
He played in a Slavia team that knocked out both Leicester City and Rangers from the Europa League. Unfortunately, they suffered defeat to Arsenal in the quarter-finals.
Jan Kuchta may be a brilliant under the radar target for West Ham
First of all, it’s essential Irons manager David Moyes signs a new forward in the summer. They can’t go into the season with Michail Antonio as the only senior striker, and they know he can be injury-prone.
West Ham will be balancing both European and domestic competitions next year, which is why it’s vital the squad is filled out. They are only a few signings away from having a group that consistently competes for European spots.
Antonio starts, if he’s fit, and that’s an obstacle trying to attracts players. However, extra European fixtures is a bonus, and West Ham need to be smart with their targets.
A 19-goal return from Kuchta proves he knows where the net. Additionally, he would add to the growing Czech army alongside fan favourites Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.
West Ham now know there is going to be a target on their backs after performing so well last year. The real challenge now is to try maintain standards.
