Villarreal ace Pervis Estupinan is allegedly ‘destined’ to sign for West Ham United.

What’s the story?

According to Corriere Dello Sport, the Irons are now in the picture to sign the defender. David Moyes’ side have joined Serie A outfit Napoli in the race.

The publication goes on to claim the Hammers’ economic status could give them an edge.

However, CalcioNapoli24 go one step further in their claims about the 23-year-old.

The publication seems confident the full-back is closing in on a move to the London Stadium. They claim the Ecuadorian ace has picked the Londoners over the Naples outfit.

Estupinan is raw talent

Estupinan is a raw talent and needs guidance if he joins West Ham this summer. However, in Aaron Cresswell, the youngster would have a great mentor to guide him.

But, with the Europa League looming large next season, it could be a worry if the 29-year-old gets injured.

Attacking contributions were a huge part of the full-backs’ game last season. Vladimir Coufal and Cresswell were two of the biggest creators for the Hammers.

The Czech international assisted seven goals in the Premier League, while the Englishman assisted eight.

If West Ham are going to sign a backup player, you’d imagine it would be a like-minded one.

However, Estupinan was underwhelming last season with just two assists across 33 appearances. It is safe to say Estupinan could struggle to match Cresswell for a starting spot.

Meanwhile, Leicester want to sign a West Ham player.
