Leicester City could turn to West Ham as they look to cope without Wesley Fofana with the Daily Mail reporting that the Foxes are interested in Issa Diop.

Fofana, of course, looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being on the receiving end of a horror challenge in a pre-season clash with Villarreal.

Unsurprisingly, it appears that one of Leicester’s priorities for the final weeks of the window therefore, is to sign a new centre-back.

And according to the Daily Mail, they are interested in Diop. Meanwhile, they also have their eye on Burnley stalwart James Tarkowski.

Diop has had an interesting time at West Ham. The club actually broke their transfer record to bring him to the London Stadium. They reportedly paid £22 million.

And initially, it seemed that that deal would prove to be a masterstroke. He was colossal at times.

However, his form then seemed to dip. He did appear to get back on track last season. The Frenchman did not miss a minute between mid-February and the clash with Everton in May.

It will therefore, be interesting to see what the Hammers make of the links with Leicester.

Certainly, it appears that David Moyes’s men cannot afford to lose a centre-back themselves.

So Leicester will surely need to make a considerable offer if they hope to tempt West Ham to even consider letting the 24-year-old leave.

West Ham will surely also be wary of selling Issa Diop to Leicester in particular

After an outstanding year, West Ham have a Europa League campaign ahead. And the other English side in the competition is Leicester.

The Foxes have set the benchmark for those looking to upset the apple cart. And thus, West Ham will be wary of letting a player like Diop move to the King Power Stadium.

His potential is clear. So selling him to a club who West Ham would like to battle with more often in the coming years would surely be a big mistake.
