Report: West Ham believe they could sign Ollie Watkins this summer
West Ham believe they could sign Ollie Watkins this summer, with the Daily Mail reporting that Aston Villa are open to selling the striker – but on one condition.
The Hammers’ priority is likely to be a new goalscorer this summer. They have done brilliantly over the last couple of years, reaching the Europa League semi-final this season.
Their achievement is all the more remarkable given the lack of depth they have up front. Michail Antonio looks to be the only senior striker in the squad. So the fans will expect the board to bring in at least one new face.

And it seems that Watkins is a player very much on their radar. Reports this week claimed that David Moyes is an admirer of the 26-year-old, who has scored 10 times in the Premier League.
And it would seem that the Irons fancy their chances of bringing him to the London Stadium. The Daily Mail reports that West Ham believe that they could sign Watkins.
Meanwhile, Villa are open to letting him go. The Mail suggests that they would want to make a profit on the £33 million that they spent on the former Brentford man.
West Ham believe they could sign Ollie Watkins
Watkins could be a really exciting signing for West Ham this summer. Steven Gerrard labelled one of his recent displays ‘fantastic‘, while Jamie Carragher lauded him as he shone up against Liverpool.
Watkins boasts an impressive goalscoring record in the top-flight. He is a clever striker who makes great runs and is not often bullied by centre-backs.
It is a surprise that Villa are apparently open to letting him go. But West Ham look ready to capitalise.
