Aston Villa played out a 0-0 draw with Leicester City today in a game that very much had an end of season feel to it.
Villa are playing for pride and final position, while Leicester are focussed on Europe, with a big clash against Roma coming up this week. Both teams huffed and puffed on the day today, but over the course of 90 minutes, a draw was probably a fair result in the end.

Another blank in front of goal for Villa will concern manager Steven Gerrard. The Villans have failed to score in three of the last four games now. However, despite the lack of goals, Gerrard felt his striker Ollie Watkins deserved plenty of praise for his efforts at the King Power.
“I thought Ollie Watkins was fantastic in the second half; he did lots of running and gave the Leicester defence a tough time. All that was missing today was a goal, but the chances keep coming so a goal will come. We had some good play and overall, probably shaded the chances,” Gerrard told the BBC.
Watkins has eight goals this season for Villa, although he does only have one in his last six. Gerrard, though, seems pleased with his man and appears to have confidence in the goals returning.
TBR’s View: Ollie Watkins Never The Most Prolific But Villa Can Be Pleased
Watkins is never going to be the 20-25 goal a season man Villa need. They brought Danny Ings in for that reason, although that hasn’t exactly gone brilliantly either.
However, Watkins will always give you that effort and running that a lot of players don’t. Even if he’s not scoring, he’s causing a nuisance of himself for defenders with his pace, movement, and energy.
Gerrard is obviously happy with his striker. Watkins, then, will just hope the goals come again soon.
