West Ham United want to sign AZ Alkmaar defender Owen Wijndal to bolster David Moyes’ options at left-back.

The Athletic report that Moyes wants a new face in that area of the pitch this summer and 22-year-old Wijndal is on his radar.

Moyes also wants David Raum, who is a German international who plays for Hoffenheim, whose chiefs have confirmed transfer interest already this summer.

Manchester United are also interested in Raum, but they look set to sign another left-back now, in the shape of Tyrell Malacia.

West Ham want Wijndal

That could leave West Ham with a clearer run at Raum, but they also have the Dutchman Wijndal on their wish list this summer.

There has also been other Premier League interest in Wijndal, who has held talks with Tottenham Hotspur already this summer.

But Fabrizio Romano said that Spurs have now pulled back slightly from the defender, which could leave the pathway clearer for West Ham.

Foot Mercato report that Lyon, Napoli and Juventus are all interested in signing Wijndal this summer, so there is competition for the defender.

Wijndal enjoyed a stunning season for AZ, racking up 12 assists in 43 games to prove what a great attacking threat he offers down the left flank.

Indeed, the full-back certainly doesn’t lack confidence either. He told Football Oranje previously how he regards himself as the very best in his position in Holland.

“I am the best left back in the Netherlands. That is my opinion and I think I should be able to say that,” Wijndal said, and could he yet be coming to the Premier League by the end of the transfer window?
