Report: West Ham and Aston Villa have shown interest in 12-goal PL star since his latest contract offer
West Ham and Aston Villa have joined Spurs in showing interest in Danny Ings over the last year or so since his most recent contract offer was put on the table, according to a report from The Athletic.
Ings’s future has become a talking point once again this summer. As noted by The Athletic, he has now rejected a four-year deal with Southampton.
His current terms at St Mary’s expire next summer. And it would be little surprise if a number of sides were alerted by Ings’s reported decision.
It certainly appears that several Premier League sides have already had him on their radar amid the uncertainty.
According to The Athletic, he was offered a new deal 14 months ago. And it will reportedly remain on the table amid hopes that he can be convinced to sign fresh terms.
West Ham, Aston Villa and Spurs have all reportedly shown interest since that offer was made.
It is not clear whether any of the teams plan to make a move this summer. But it seems fair to say that they all need a striker.
West Ham or Spurs probably need Ings more than Aston Villa
The Villans can arguably put a new striker lower on their summer wishlist than the other two clubs.
Ollie Watkins enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign in the top flight. And Dean Smith has options such as Wesley and Keinan Davis available if no name comes in.
West Ham meanwhile, certainly need a new goalscorer. David Moyes’s men have a Europa League campaign to prepare for. And they also have only one striker in Michail Antonio.
Spurs may be on the hunt for at least one forward in this window. Of course, speculation persists over Harry Kane’s future.
But with Carlos Vinicius returning from his loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Nuno Espirito Santo cannot let the window shut without bolstering his options.
