Report: 'Very important' Tottenham player is club's dream signing this summer
Rennes have become the latest club to eye a move for Hugo Lloris, with French outlet France Bleu Armorique reporting that the Tottenham Hotspur star is the hierarchy’s dream signing this summer.
Lloris continues to face an uncertain future in North London. His contract expires at the end of the campaign. However, previous reports have suggested that there is a quiet confidence that he will extend his stay.
Antonio Conte meanwhile, has publicly expressed a desire to see him stay. He lauded the Frenchman as a ‘top player’ and claimed he is ‘very important’ for Tottenham following their win over Watford recently (Daily Mail).
Nevertheless, clubs are planning to leave Lloris with a decision to make. His former side Nice have made the 35-year-old their top target. And Foot Mercato suggested that he is interested in joining them.
But they are not the only Ligue 1 side in the running. France Bleu Armorique is now reporting that Rennes have joined the race.
In fact, the club’s owner Francois Pinault has been considering a move since the summer. And it is claimed that he is now the dream signing for them.
There is an issue. The report suggests that Lloris’ wages are out of Rennes’ price range. But they clearly want to keep an eye on developments. And the report suggests that a move is feasible.
The longer speculation over Lloris continues, the more worried Tottenham fans will become as Rennes join race
It appears a no-brainer for Tottenham to keep Lloris. Conte wants to him to stay. He is playing superbly. And Spurs are seemingly yet to find the player to succeed him.
They may have something special up their sleeve for the summer. But as things stand, replacing Lloris is looking set to be a huge task.
You would imagine that Lloris would want to stick around while he is playing well and regularly. But the longer the speculation goes on, the more concerned fans will become that he may indeed be heading for the exit.
