Valencia have made a bid for Arthur Melo while Arsenal lurk in the background in the race to sign the Juventus midfielder, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.

Arthur looks set to leave Juve before the end of the summer transfer window. He was not involved in the club’s pre-season tour. And the Old Lady are ready to let him go.

Of course, Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the 25-year-old. Reports previously claimed that the Gunners are ready to make a bid for the Brazilian.

But it seems that Valencia have pushed themselves to the front of the queue. According to Tuttomercatoweb, Los Che have made an offer for Arthur. They want to take the former Barcelona man on loan.

His salary is a problem for Gennaro Gattuso’s men. They want to split his £81,000-a-week wages with Juve.

But Arsenal remain in the running. Tuttomercatoweb claims that the Gunners are always in the background in the race to sign Arthur.

Valencia bid for Arthur

Tuttomercatoweb reports that Arthur either wants to return to Barcelona or move to the Premier League. So Arsenal potentially have time to make their move before he agrees to move to the Mestalla.

The Gunners may have other targets in mind. Obviously, Youri Tielemans is one name never too far away from speculation surrounding the Emirates.

But a loan deal must surely appeal to Arsenal. He is someone Edu agreed a deal for during the January transfer window. And he is an ‘incredible‘ talent.

It will be interesting to see if Valencia’s reported bid sparks Arsenal into life. Perhaps Juve will feel that they are closing in on agreeing a move.

And with that, Arsenal may now have to act quickly if they want to get a deal done.
