Report: Two clubs have ‘superb’ Celtic player in their sights, one expected to make offer
Celtic are preparing themselves for a bid from Premier League side Brighton for Odsonne Edouard.
According to the Scottish Sun, English clubs Brighton and Crystal Palace are both setting their sights on the 23-year-old Hoops striker this summer.
However, the report says it’s Brighton that are lining up a sizeable £20million offer.
In addition, the Frenchman looks destined to leave Parkhead before the window closes. He’s now entering the final year of his contract with the Scottish giants.
For now, Edouard is still a Celtic player. The frontman featured in the Champions League qualifier against FC Midtjylland earlier in the week.
The centre-forward has scored 22 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions, so is a key figure.
Ex Celtic boss Neil Lennon called him “superb” in an interview back in February this year.
Odsonne Edouard sale for £20m would be decent Celtic return
Buying clubs looking at Edouard know Celtic are in a somewhat difficult position given Edouard’s contract expires in 2022.
Therefore, an expected £20million offer looks decent business for all parties involved.
Brighton will sign a forward who’s scored 83 goals in 169 appearances for Celtic. It’s going to be intriguing to see if he can replicate that success in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou’s side should be able to reinvest with some strong players to improve their squad.
