Report: Tottenham willing to pay £44m for Nuno target, but club want £60m
Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claim that Tottenham are ready to pay £44million for Nuno Espirito Santo’s defensive target Jules Kounde. The Sevilla defender has been excellent over the past couple of seasons. Spurs are looking to get him, but Sevilla’s asking price is a hefty one.
Kounde, 22, has clocked up 89 games for Sevilla in two seasons since joining the Spanish side from Bordeaux. Despite his tender age, he already has 159 club appearances to his name. Little surprise then that Tottenham want to land the Europa League winner, initially claimed by Gianluca Di Marzio.
A new report from Estadio Deportivo claims that Tottenham are willing to pay £44million to sign Kounde. But it is unlikely to be enough. That is because a previous report from ED states that Sevilla want £60million for Kounde – which would be a club-record signing for Spurs.
£60m is still worth paying for Kounde, especially for Tottenham
Clearly, it is a big amount of money. Kounde is a top, top player and at such a young age, he is churning out performances of someone much older, with more experience. The fact Daniel Levy is willing to pay £44million to sign him says everything. But he is worth more than that.
If you combine potential resale value, his quality already and that he is a France international – Kounde is certainly worth the £60million asking price. If Tottenham do not pay that figure, someone else will.
