Atalanta will hold a meeting with Tottenham Hotspur this week over the transfer for Cristian Romero.
What’s the story?
The two clubs will meet as they try to close a deal for the 23-year-old central defender, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Tottenham has so far struggled to meet the Serie A side’s demands for the Argentina international.
Atalanta were initially asking for €55m (£47m) for the sale of the player.
Then the price was supposedly bumped up to €60-65m (£51m-£55.3m) this week in the face of interest from Barcelona. But, Fabrizio Romano has since claimed the Catalan giants are not in the race.

Tottenham firmly in the driving seat
It seems Tottenham are firmly in the driving seat for Romero amid talk of a meeting.
Completing the transfer has been a priority for Spurs for weeks now. The departure of Toby Alderweireld only further enhanced the importance of a move.
Spurs can now move on to other more pressing positions across the pitch.
Harry Kane’s future is still far from certain, leaving Tottenham sweating over a potential replacement. Meanwhile, Spurs are also looking for a backup option in case the England international stays.
That means Tottenham may need two centre-forwards this summer, depending on what happens with their talisman.
While Serge Aurier is looking likely to leave if the latest news is to be believed. Therefore, a right-back would also be high on the agenda.
A swift conclusion to the Romero chase is upon us. Tottenham now need to focus as they look to rebuild for the new campaign.
