Report: Tottenham stand no chance of getting £33m player on loan today, relationship poor with his club
Tottenham Hotspur stand no chance of getting Hakim Ziyech on loan today as they have a poor relationship with Chelsea, reports Sky Sports News.
Spurs have been on the lookout for attacking reinforcements and Ziyech would certainly fit the bill.
The Moroccan international has struggled to nail down a place in Chelsea’s team since making the switch from Ajax back in 2020 for a fee worth up to £36.6 million (BBC).
But it seems that the Ziyech deal is not possible due to the club’s poor relationship at board level.
Tottenham stand no chance of getting Ziyech
Tottenham can only move for players on loan today before the deadline, as stated in Sky Sports News’ Live transfer blog (12.08pm).
Journalist Lyall Thomas provided an update on the possibility of Ziyech moving to Spurs.
“Tottenham can only do a loan deal for a new player on Deadline Day and Chelsea are simply not going to loan Hakim Ziyech to Spurs – a direct rival for position in the table and a London rival,” he wrote.
“The relationship between the clubs is still not the best either despite the changeover in hierarchy at Stamford Bridge, so they’re not keen to do business.”
Ziyech would have been an ideal signing for Antonio Conte’s men as they look to add some creativity to the side.
It hasn’t quite worked out for the 29-year-old at Chelsea so far but his performances for Ajax show how talented he is.
Spurs do have a wealth of attacking options but are lacking the type of creative player that Ziyech is.
Dejan Kulusevski has provided this from the right-hand side but there seems to be no alternative options for Conte at this time.
