Report: Tottenham really want to sign 'outstanding' midfielder this summer, they prefer him to Bissouma
Tottenham want Christian Eriksen to come back this summer and will only turn to Yves Bissouma of Brighton if they can’t get him.
London World report that Antonio Conte has something of a midfield pecking order as he looks to improve his squad in the forthcoming window.
Spurs have Champions League night back at the club next term and that brings about an increased need for quality and depth.
Bissouma would be a more natural fit for the two deeper roles in Conte’s midfield, with Eriksen not having an obvious role in his 3-4-3, but the Italian clearly wants a reunion with the Dane.
Tottenham want Eriksen over Bissouma
Their report reads: Tottenham will renew their interest in Brighton Hove and Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma, if they cannot convince Christian Eriksen to return to the club.
“Antonio Conte is pressing on for a deal to bring Eriksen back to North London, but the Italian manager has identified Brighton’s Bissouma as an ideal back up plan if the Dane opts out of the move.
“Football director Fabio Paratici is in Italy sorting out plans for the summer and the news of the latest cash injection will be soothing to Italian manager Antonio Conte, who had cast doubts over his long-term future at the club.
“Bissouma has had another brilliant season at the Amex, and there is a feeling that he might have played his last game for the Seagulls.“
Brentford teammate Vitaly Janelt recently compared ‘outstanding’ Eriksen to Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne.
He has been sensational since his return to football in the January transfer window and he can still do the business at the very top level.
It just depends whether he is loyal to the Bees, who brought him back into the game, or whether he goes for it at another club next season.
