Report: Tottenham reach an agreement with Sevilla for Kounde
Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Sevilla for Jules Kounde, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The defender has been a target for the Lilywhites since Fabio Paratici’s arrival at the club. Reports claimed the ace was on the Italian’s wishlist.
Kounde was away with France at Euro 2020, starting each of the last two games for Les Blues. However, the nation was knocked out on penalties by Switzerland at the last-16 stage.
The transfer guru has claimed that the agreement is €30m (£25.6m) plus Davinson Sanchez.
Di Marzio claims the player, labelled ‘prime Puyol, ‘thinks about’ the move. Meanwhile, Milan Skriniar is the alternative target for Spurs should a deal collapse.
Kounde is a versatile option for Tottenham amid report over agreement
Kounde can be a very versatile figure for Tottenham amid reports an agreement has been reached.
The defender can play anywhere across the backline as he’s shown during his time in Seville. Whilst he is naturally a centre-half, he has also featured at both fullback positions throughout his career.
It would relieve the stress of having to fill multiple defensive positions given the reports surrounding outgoings.
However, aside from his versatility, Kounde comes with an abundance of quality.
The 22-year-old is a pass master having completed 90.1% of his attempts in La Liga last term, more than any Spurs player. He also averaged 69.3 passes per game, the second-most when compared to Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
Considering Daniel Levy’s desire to return Tottenham’s DNA back to the club, Kounde would be a sensational addition.
