Tuttosport reports that Tottenham Hotspur are now making a big push to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie – who’s gone unbeaten at the World Cup so far.

Tottenham have brought in two midfielders under Antonio Conte already, with Rodrigo Bentancur joining in January while Yves Bissouma made the switch to north London over the summer.

But it’s no secret that Spurs’ transfer guru Fabio Paratici is a huge admirer of McKennie – a player who he brought to Juventus from Bundesliga outfit Schalke.

Alasdair Gold claimed this week that Paratici thinks McKennie is a superstar and it seems that Spurs could now be stepping up their attempts to land the 24-year-old.

Tuttosport claims that contacts between Tottenham and McKennie’s representatives are ‘thickening’ through intermediaries.

The Italian outlet notes that this doesn’t come as a surprise considering Paratici and Conte’s admiration for the player.

The Old Lady will now have to sell some of their stars in order to buy new players and Tottenham could benefit.

McKennie has impressed in Qatar for the USA so far and put in an eye-catching display against England on Friday.

The midfielder is yet to lose at the World Cup after America have drawn to Gareth Southgate’s men and Wales.

The Juve man has been linked with a move to north London ever since Paratici switched Turin for Tottenham. But for one reason or another, it has not materialised as of yet and Paratici has secured other targets in the meantime.

Bentancur also made the switch from Juve in January and he has been a revelation for Conte’s men, while Bissouma has struggled to make a similar impact after his move from Brighton.

McKennie would undoubtedly be a good addition to Spurs’ midfield, with Calciomercato reporting last week that Juve will demand around £26 million.

But he seems to be a similar profile to the midfielders Conte already has at his disposal. Tottenham may be better off going for a more creative midfielder, unless they are planning to move one of their current options on.
