Report: Tottenham now could buy Portuguese star who Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told Man United to sign

Tottenham Hotspur once again had to come from behind this weekend to secure a valuable three points against Leeds United.

Rodrigo Bentancur was the hero of the day, but covered up some suspect defending from his Spurs teammates.

A report from Give Me Sport suggests Spurs are now looking to improve their back line.

Emerson Royal’s form at right wing-back has been heavily scrutinised, and 90min suggests Tottenham could be ready to sell him.

Eric Dier has also struggled in recent games after his call-up to the England squad for the World Cup.

Spurs have certainly missed Cristian Romero and in his absence Davinson Sanchez has failed to step up.

Give Me Sport now believe that Tottenham could buy Benfica defender Antonio Silva.

The 19-year-old has reportedly been recommended to Spurs after an impressive breakout season in Portugal.

He would certainly be a signing for the future, although his recent form suggests he wouldn’t look out of place in Tottenham’s first team.

Tottenham could buy Antonio Silva

Give Me Sport believes that a number of top clubs have regularly scouted Silva this season.

Silva has yet to win a senior cap for Portugal, but has been called-up by Fernando Santos for the World Cup.

It woud be very impressive if he were to make his debut in Qatar this month.

Silva has also impressed Cristiano Ronaldo, who has reportedly told Manchester United to sign him.

It’s a glowing recommendation from his country’s greatest ever player.

Silva is an impressive ball-playing central defender, who also loves a tackle.

He’s not the best defender in the air, but reads the game very well for someone his age.

Silva has scored twice this season, both against Estoril, with his first goal being a neat, improvised flick past the goalkeeper.

The 19-year-old typically plays in a back four, and may need to adapt to Conte’s three-man defensive system.

Tottenham could buy Silva and potentially send him out on loan for a season, although the Italian has been reluctant to do this.

Bryan Gil and Pape Matar Sarr could both attest to not being given opportunities away from the club.
