Football.London reports that Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero could now be available next weekend, if the Spurs medical team gives him the green light to play.

The Argentine defender was desperate to play against Wolves yesterday but Antonio Conte didn’t want to take the risk, despite the fact that Romero offered to play.

The 24-year-old suffered an injury in the game against Chelsea last Sunday and Football.London reported this week that Romero could be sidelined for up to four weeks.

But the player did like a tweet that suggested it could be a much shorter period on the sidelines.

And it seems that Romero could even be available to play against Nottingham Forest next weekend, if his recovery goes to plan.

Romero could now be available for next game

Football.London reports that the Spurs medical team told Romero that he would need three to four weeks to recover from an adductor injury.

But the defender offered to play against Wolves as he was desperate to get straight back out on the pitch.

Of course, Conte did not take the Argentine up on his offer but the medical team at the club will be monitoring him this week.

And if Romero recovers well, he could feature against Forest, provided the medical team gives him the green light to do so.

The Argentina international is apparently keen to be back in action as soon as possible.

Spurs coped well without Romero yesterday as they beat Wolves 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Davinson Sanchez stepped into Conte’s backline and put in a solid display.

But there’s no denying that Romero is first-choice over the Colombian and Conte will be eager to have him back as soon as possible.

The Italian will be delighted to have a player like Romero, who is clearly committed to playing under him. But it was probably for the best that Conte allowed him the time to recover fully, rather than taking the risk against Wolves.
