Antonio Conte has spent this summer revolutionising Tottenham Hostpur’s squad.

Tottenham have brought in eight players so far in this transfer window, with many of them immediately strengthening their first team squad.

The Evening Standard now report that Spurs have joined the race to sign a player for the future: Adedire Mebude.

Conte has already signed 19-year-old Destiny Udogie, who has remained on loan at Udinese this season.

Sheffield United youngster Will Lankshear has also joined the club ahead of the deadline.

Ukraine international Ilya Zabarnyi has also been linked with a move to Spurs, and would be seen as a coup.

The most recent report has seen Tottenham join the race to sign Adedire Mebude from Manchester City.

Tottenham join race to sign Mebude

The Evening Standard suggest that Tottenham are now competing with Southampton and Newcastle among other clubs for Mebude.

Contract talks have reportedly stalled with Mebude, who’s current deal runs out in 2024.

The ‘very exciting’ Mebude is a right winger, who has spent the last two seasons in City’s academy.

He’s lifted the U18 Premier League title on back-to-back occasions, providing 29 goal contributions last season.

In fact, only Liverpool’s Oakley Cannonier was more prolific last season.

Mebude has since made the step up to Man City’s under-21s and has scored three goals in his four appearances so far this year.

Tottenham’s focus on improving their current squad and future prospects is very encouraging.

Mebude’s record is exceptional at youth level, but paying a fee for an unproven player at first-team level is risky.

Tottenham joining the race to Mebude could persuade the youngster to return to his home town.
