Report: Tottenham hoping to finalise a contract for Heung-Min Son soon
Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to finalise a new contract for Heung-Min Son soon, according to the latest update from the Telegraph.
The South Korean’s current deal is set to expire in just two years. After a summer when Harry Kane has expressed his intention to leave, Spurs can ill-afford to lose both talismanic figures.
Son has formed a dynamite partnership with the England captain over the last few seasons. The duo scored and assisted 64 of the club’s 68 goals in the Premier League last season.
Who’s praised Son?
The attacker has drawn plenty of praise during his time in north London, but none bigger than one comment last term.
Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho called the ace ‘precious’ after his match-winner against Aston Villa in February 2020.
The star scored a brace to help his side overcome the Villans 3-2 at Villa Park.
Tottenham need to ensure both Kane and Son don’t leave
Letting Kane or Son leave would represent poor business from Tottenham amid the update on his contract. But, to let both of them go in the same window could see the Lilywhites crash and burn.
You may think it’s an exaggeration, after all, no player is bigger than the club.
But, last season was a real eye-opener regarding Spurs’ reliance on the duo. As mentioned above, they scored or assisted 64 of the club’s 68 goals in the top-flight; a staggering 94%.
Hopefully, Tottenham can secure the South Korea international’s future sooner rather than later.
