Tottenham Hotspur are amongst the clubs to have enquired about the availability of Jonathan David, with the striker’s list of admirers seemingly growing with each week, according to a report from Canadian outlet TSN.
David has enjoyed a superb season in Ligue 1. He actually made a slow start to life with Lille, not scoring in his first 10 appearances in the French top-flight.

However, he ended his first year with 13 goals. And he is already one away from matching that tally this time around. He has also bagged three goals in the Champions League this season.
Unsurprisingly, he is attracting a lot of interest. Fabrizio Romano suggested this week that Arsenal are one of several sides in the race. However, he added that the 22-year-old – who has been valued at £30 million – is not expected to move anywhere until the summer.

Certainly however, it looks likely that Lille’s resolve shall be tested. TSN notes that the Gunners, Liverpool, and Manchester United want David. But they add that Tottenham have now enquired about his availability. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea are also keen.
Jonathan David could be an outstanding signing for Tottenham
Tottenham have had real issues finding a backup striker in recent years. It is an incredibly difficult role to fill. Spurs need a player good enough to fill the boots of Harry Kane when needed, but also be prepared to probably go some time without regular minutes.
David would tick plenty of boxes. He has predominantly played as a second striker this term. So he could potentially feature with Kane.
He boasts frightening pace. He is incredibly clever off the ball. And only three players in Ligue 1 have a better goals per shot ratio this season, according to FB Ref.
Clearly, it is not going to be easy for Tottenham to win the race. But he is a player a lot of Spurs fans would be incredibly excited about.
