Report: Tottenham have now decided they want to sell 'superstar' talent this summer

On Thursday, it was reported that Tottenham Hotspur were planning to send Bryan Gil out on loan again next season.

However, another report has now claimed Spurs are actually looking to sell the Spaniard this summer.

According to AS, Tottenham have told Valencia they are going to ‘wait for transfer offers in the first months of the market to try to recover the investment’.

In wake of Spurs’ £150million cash injection, there is now ‘no room’ for Gil at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Valencia must now ‘wait’ to see what happens. Tottenham are reportedly uninterested in loaning the 21-year-old back to them at present.

Yesterday’s report in Marca suggested Spurs were hoping to send Gil out on loan to a club in the Champions League or Europa League.

Gil arrived at N17 to much fanfare last summer, joining from Sevilla for a reported £21.6million.

However, he failed to win a regular place in the Spurs starting XI during his first half-season at the club.

In addition, Nuno Espirito Santo – the manager who signed him – was replaced by Antonio Conte.

Gil ended up joining Valencia on loan, where he became a fan favourite.

Indeed, plenty of fans were hoping they could land the Tottenham talent for next season.

However, Gil recently confirmed on Instagram that he’d be returning to Spurs this summer.

Will Conte offload ‘tremendous’ talent?

Gil earned plenty of praise last season, from both Spurs and Valencia perspectives.

Tottenham legend Graham Roberts labelled him a “little superstar” after one Tottenham display.

And Valencia coach Jose Bordalas deemed Gil “tremendous” and said he had adapted “phenomenally well”.

However, it doesn’t look as though he has much of a future at Spurs, based on these recent reports.

Of course, they’re just speculation at present, and for all we know, Conte may still want to see what Gil can offer.

Perhaps, if Gil impressed the Spurs coaches in pre-season, he might get a shot at fighting for a squad place in 2022-23.
