Report: Tottenham handed a blow in pursuit of Kounde
Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a blow in their pursuit of Jules Kounde with the ace preferring a move to a Champions League outfit.
According to ABC, the Frenchman could leave Sevilla during this summer’s transfer window.
Spurs have been linked with a move for the France international with the latest reports claiming the team were in talks.
However, they face a competition to complete a move with various clubs across Europe keen on the 22-year-old.
Real Madrid are reportedly willing to pay £50m for the centre-back. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Barcelona are also eyeing a transfer. It’s claimed the ace has a £69m release clause in his Sevilla contract.
Kounde was eliminated with France from Euro 2020 by Switzerland earlier in the week. The ace started just one of his country’s four games.

Targeting a talented young defender is a sign of ambition from the Lilywhites. However, it’s clear that the ace wants to play amongst the elite of European football.
Spurs’ inability to qualify for the Champions League has hampered their chances of sealing a move.
However, whilst the team are showing ambition, did the club really have a chance?
The Sevilla defender just helped his side finish fourth in La Liga. Meanwhile, he’s been targeted by two of the biggest clubs in world football.
It seems like it would take a lot of money for Spurs to pull off a move. The club certainly aren’t short of finances after recently having a ‘dizzying’ offer rejected for Julen Lopetegui.
But, aside from money, it’s hard to see how Tottenham can pull off a shock deal.
