Report: Tottenham could sign 21-year-old Conte loves for just £10m now, they bid over £20m in the summer
Tottenham Hotspur look set to be active in the January transfer window, with Antonio Conte eyeing new recruits.
A report from Tuttosport, via Sport Witness, suggests he’s still not happy with his defensive options.
When Conte arrived at the club, Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty were the right wing-backs he had to choose from.
Emerson Royal started Conte’s tenure as his first choice, but eventually lost his place to Doherty.
The Irishman was playing well until a knee injury ruled him out for the season, gifting the Brazilian his place back.
The signing of Djed Spence in the summer suggested Conte was looking for a new player to fill that role.
Unfortunately, the youngster has played just a handful of minutes, and now the Italian is back on the search.
Tuttosport now suggest that Tottenham could sign Torino full-back Wilfried Singo.
The 21-year-old might be a familiar name to Spurs fans, as he could have ended up in north London this summer.
Tottenham could sign full-back Singo
The report suggests Singo is a player that ‘the current Spurs coach liked’, which is an encouraging sign.
Singo’s contract runs out in 2024, and Torino are now considering cashing in on the Ivorian international.
Tuttosport believe Singo will cost around £10m now, which will certainly interest Spurs.
The Italian outlet suggested in the summer that Tottenham had made a £21.4m bid for Singo.
Spurs could now be set to benefit from deciding against signing Singo in the summer, and save a lot of money in January.
There’s plenty of speculation regarding the future of Emerson Royal, and so he’s likely to need replacing.
Singo certainly fits the mould of a Conte full-back.
He scored three goals and provided four assists last season, and enjoys popping up in attacking areas.
As well being a brilliant dribbler, Singo takes plenty of shots for a full-back.
A nice bonus is his brilliant ability in the air, featuring in the top 5% of wide defenders for aerial duels won.
Tottenham could now sign Singo to finally solve their right-back conundrum.
