Tottenham Hotspur could spring a surprise and beat both Arsenal and Napoli to the signing of Lille striker, Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen has rattled in 18 goals this term to become the latest star name to emerge from Lille. It comes just 12 months after Nicolas Pepe completed a mega-money move to Arsenal just last summer.
Reports in recent days have claimed that Osimhen is close to completing a move to Napoli for a huge fee.
However, this latest twist suggests that Jose Mourinho is potentially hoping to scupper the plans of the Naples club and snatch Osimhen from under their noses.
The 21-year-old Nigerian forward had previously made his feelings known about making a move to the PL. Before Napoli put the money up, it was believed Osimhen was pining for a move to England.
Hard to see this happening given the figures involved – TBR View
While it would be great for Spurs fans to see their club land Osimhen and get another over their north London rivals, it’s so hard to see this happening.
The fee involved is thought to be over £70m, money that Spurs simply aren’t going to spend. Secondly, it is claimed that Osimhen will earn some seven-times the wage he is currently on in Lille.
Jose Mourinho has pulled some rabbits out of this hat during his career. But sadly for Spurs fans, this one looks like being a step too far, even for the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’.
