Arsenal target Victor Osimhen has issued an apparent come and get me plea to Premier League clubs, with Football Italia claiming the Nigerian will reject a move to Napoli in favour of a Premier League switch.
Osimhen is one of the most in-demand players in Europe following a stunning season in France with Lille.
His goals and explosive performances have caught the attention of a number of top clubs. However, Napoli were widely expected to win the race for the striker having agreed to a massive transfer fee with Lille.
But, according to this latest report, Osimhen has chosen to reject the Italian side. Instead, he is said to be waiting for concrete interest from the Premier League, where Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been linked.
Arsenal have been the club with the most persistent links to the 21-year-old. Indeed, back in May, the Sun claimed it was a two-horse race between the Gunners and Napoli to land the striker.
The door for Mikel Arteta, then, seems to be open wider than ever thanks to Osimhen’s latest decision.
If Arsenal are to move, then the time is now – TBR View
While Arsenal are biding their time in the transfer market it seems, if they are going to make a move for Victor Osimhen then the time is now.
Having seemingly rejected a move to Naples, the door has been flung open to favour the Gunners.
He’d be a nice fit in north London, too. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang yet to sign a new deal and Alexandre Lacazette potentially on his way, Osimhen could be the ideal replacement.
Coincidentally, the Nigerian has been compared to Aubameyang by his current boss at Lille. Christophe Galiter described Osimhen as being ‘obsessed with the goal’. Ideal, then, for Arsenal.
