Report: Tottenham and Arsenal are planning bids for 'unbelievable' defender
Midlesbrough are expecting bids from both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal for Djed Spence on the final day of the January transfer window, according to a report from The Northern Echo.
Spence is in a bizarre position heading into deadline day. He could well be sold by Boro while out on loan at Nottingham Forest. However, he would likely remain at the City Ground, having already played for two clubs this season.
The Northern Echo reports that both Tottenham and Arsenal plan to make a move for Spence today.
Arsenal are yet to make a first-team signing in this window. And Mikel Arteta’s side certainly need to make further additions before the deadline passes.
Tottenham meanwhile, have been heavily linked with a move for a right wing-back throughout the window. Spence would not address those problems this month. But getting a deal done would be a coup for Antonio Conte ahead of the summer.
Spence one to watch on deadline day as Arsenal and Tottenham eye bids
It has been suggested previously that Boro want £10 million for Spence. But he has been outstanding in the Championship with Forest.
Ian Wright labelled his performance in the FA Cup tie with the Gunners ‘unbelievable‘. And it is hard to believe that that performance did not play a part in both Arsenal and Tottenham now preparing a move for Spence.
